The Insurance Partners, Inc., team believes in giving back to the community around us—and in helping those who are in need. So it was no surprise when one of our agents, Robert Marquez, told us he was heading to Guatemala to participate in Project SPAMMY and address malnutrition in children.
A partnership of Hormel Foods and other organizations, including Caritas and the Center for Study of Sensory Impairment, Aging and Metabolism (CeSSIAM), Project SPAMMY distributes Hormel’s fortified poultry product, SPAMMY, to more than 8,300 families in Guatemala—reaching more than 30,000 children.
The program does more than feed the hungry, although it was with that goal in mind that Project SPAMMY was originally developed. It also establishes educational centers where children study subjects including math and reading, and also strengthen their motor skills and teach them about nutrition.
We applaud Robert for sacrificing his time and energy to volunteer in South America to help others.
