SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 17, 2014—Insurance Partners, Inc., is proud to have partnered with Heifer International to support a community in need.
Recently Insurance Partners, Inc., purchased a goat through Heifer International, a nonprofit organization that fights hunger and poverty by bringing sustainable agriculture and commerce into areas where families struggle to survive. Heifer will give the goat to a family that will be able to sustain itself from the animal’s milk—and sales of the excess milk.
“Almost half the world—over 3 billion people—live on less than $2.50 a day,” says IPI president Nami Sadighi. “As a service-driven organization, we feel compelled to help those in need by working with organizations like Heifer, which provides a proven way for families to climb out of poverty.”
At the core of Heifer’s model is “passing on the gift,” which turns its gift recipients into donors to other families. For instance, as the family that received Insurance Partners’ goat moves gradually toward prosperity, that family will help others to do the same by giving the goat’s first female kid to another family in need. In some places, 22 generations of Heifer animals can be traced. On average, Passing on the Gift lasts for at least nine generations, no matter the project.
“Organizations like Heifer don’t give a handout; they offer a proven way for families to build prosperity and security for generations to come,” says Sadighi. “That’s a mission we’re proud to be part of.”
