Happy National Blood Donation Week!
Did you know that every two seconds, someone needs blood? And did you know that you and your organization could help?
It doesn’t take much time or energy to organize a blood drive at your company or organization. That is, it doesn’t take much if you partner with the Red Cross!
The Red Cross will help you figure out how many donors you can expect. Most importantly, the Red Cross will help you determine how to recruit them. They’ll screen all the donors confidentially and professionally. They’ll bring all the necessary equipment, and take it away again at the end of the blood drive. And, of course, they’ll handle all the blood donations.
So what do you have to do?
- Publicize your blood drive.
- Recruit donors.
- Make appointments for blood donation.
Why Host a Blood Drive for Blood Donations?
Friday, Sept. 8, is National Blood Donation Day. It would be a great day to host a blood drive! But even if you’re not able to arrange it for that particular day, there’s no bad day to host a blood drive. The need is always there!
And in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, it could be that more injured and ill people are in need of blood. But the fact is, the people who receive the most blood include those:
- being treated for cancer
- undergoing orthopedic or cardiovascular surgeries
- undergoing organ and marrow transplants
- being treated for inherited blood disorders
